They consist of an otoneurological quiz. They provide a fun opportunity for peers to share knowledge. They are characterised by enthusiasm, good humour and also a touch of courage and daring on the part of all participants. The audience can look forward to an hour of entertainment, learning and, perhaps, a touch of dizziness and a racing heart if their chosen team’s answers aren’t quite spot on.
General rules:
- There are 5–6 teams, each consisting of 4–5 people, with a spokesperson. Each team, with a name of their own choosing, is represented by a colour, with matching T-shirts provided by the organisers. Ideally, the teams will be made up of trainees and specialists, to encourage interaction between different age groups.
- The game consists of around 15 questions, with 2.5 minutes allowed to give an answer. There are three tie-breaker questions in the event of a draw between teams.
- The questions will be based on videos and clinical cases, as well as the history of otoneurology, and will have five multiple-choice options, with the level of difficulty ranging from easy to very difficult, in order to encourage discussion within the team.
- Each team starts the tournament with 20 points. If they answer correctly, one point is added; if they answer incorrectly, one point is deducted from that team’s score.
A certificate of participation for all teams and a prize for the winning team.
