In 1929, Professor Pietro Tullio described for the first time the occurrence of dizziness induced by loud noise in a specific group of patients. This finding later became known as Tullio’s phenomenon and is almost exclusively associated with superior semicircular canal dehiscence syndrome. The pathophysiology of this newly described condition remains unclear, and it is not well known to most doctors.
