Syphilis is a bacterial disease caused by Treponema pallidum. The most common route of transmission is through sexual contact. It is generally a multisystemic disease, with symptoms that can often be confused with those of other conditions. Otosyphilis is a rare condition and can occur at any stage of the infection. It usually presents with hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo and loss of balance.
