Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most commonly diagnosed conditions in ENT clinics. It is also one of the conditions for which treatment is most effective, involving manoeuvres to dislodge and reposition particles. However, not all positional vertigo is caused by a benign condition. Certain diseases of the central nervous system (multiple sclerosis, tumours, brainstem strokes, etc.) can produce symptoms similar to those of BPPV.
