Portuguese Association of Otoneurology

June 2014

Pedro Tomé Chairman of APO

We are fast approaching the Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Association of Otoneurology, which this year will take place on 20 and 21 June.
It is the Association’s first general meeting under the current governing bodies.
Various organisational difficulties meant that carrying out the work was a little more complicated, as a new Board brings with it new members, new perspectives and new challenges.
Our commitment to maintaining APO as an organisation that brings together those with an interest in the field of otoneurology, in all its various aspects, has encouraged us to reach this stage. The meeting is all set and organised. The programme is finalised and, fortunately, we are able to count on the participation of leading figures in otoneurology, both nationally and internationally, who have accepted our invitation.
The satellite course, a new addition this year, is now ready and features a very appealing and practical programme.
The work carried out fell to members of the current Executive Committee, who selflessly managed to see this group’s first project through to completion – no mean feat, given the lack of a track record.
We hope that those interested in this field will be inspired by the topics we are proposing and by the speakers we have invited to address us, whether they are experienced or just starting out. Much of our attention is focused particularly on the younger generation. It is the latter whom we wish to draw into the field that interests us and which is very often the cause of suffering for those who seek our help.
We look forward to seeing you in Albufeira.
