Portuguese Association of Otoneurology

July 2020

Nuno Trigueiros
President of the APO

Dear friends,

2020 turned out to be a turbulent year! The sense of uncertainty caused by COVID-19 seems to be here to stay!

Due to this climate of uncertainty, and as a preventative measure to protect everyone’s health, the APO Board has decided to postpone the Annual Congress, previously scheduled for 8, 9 and 10 October 2020, to a new date: 24 and 25 September 2021.

As one of the APO’s main objectives is to provide training for professionals and encourage research in the field of otoneurology, we need to find new ways of fulfilling this commitment. We will therefore use digital media to reach out to our members, sharing knowledge and providing the training needed to navigate this “new world” in which we will now have to live in the near future.

To this end, the APO will refocus its communication strategy by organising themed webinars and online courses on various topics.

Online courses on the following topics will be organised by the end of 2020:
- Summary of the university entrance examination;
- Sudden deafness
- Ménière’s disease/vestibular migraine

In December, a session will be organised for the presentation of research papers, in the form of oral presentations or posters, under the title “Otoneuro 2020”; the authors will be awarded certificates and prizes. The rules for participation will be announced at a later date.

Kind regards,
